On the Anticipation of Resurrection and Eternal Life.

The Patriarchate of Antioch and all East announces the passing of Her bishops’ dean, Philip Saliba,Philip-L Metropolitan of New York and all North America, who passed into eternal life the last night.

As our Church renders our Lord Jesus Christ the soul of the great reposed, she prays with all her children in the North America and the whole world, to grant him mercy, and to pour on him from the light of His divinity.

Christ is risen, indeed He is risen!

About his biography: 

 

Born in Abou Mizan, Lebanon, in 1931, he holds a Bachelor of Arts from both Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in Brookline, MA, and Wayne State University of Detroit, Michigan, and a Master of Divinity from St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary in New York. He was awarded numerous honorary Doctorates from Saint Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Seminary, Wayne State University, Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, and St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Seminary in South Canaan. He was ordained a priest in 1959 and served a parish in Cleveland, OH. He was elected a Metropolitan in the year 1966.
